Even the ancient Greeks knew that there are many things to discover in our world. In addition to the elements of our earth, the twinkling of the stars in the night sky fascinated them so much that hundreds of years ago, devices were developed to fathom the mysteries of the universe. As a manufacturer of metal detectors, we stay grounded and dedicate our new “Star” Pulse Nova to the discovery of shiny objects underground:
OKM Pulse Nova PI metal detector provides extra efficient scanning of the ground, detecting lost jewelry such as rings, charms and earrings, natural gold such as gold nuggets, and militaria such as old weapons and ammunition at depths of up to 3 m (9.8 ft).
Metal Detection at Depths of up to 3 m (9.8 ft)
The Pulse Nova can reach tremendous depths thanks to the applied pulse induction method. Pulse induction (PI) offers key advantages over other measurement techniques to enable these detection depths:
- The search coil of the PI metal detector can be enlarged as desired. The larger the coil of the metal detector, the more search depth is possible.
- The working principle of the detector enables a particularly high transmission power, so that objects can be detected at greater depths.
The deepest possible detection of metal objects in the ground always depends on factors such as the size and position of the objects and the nature of the ground. These factors apply in general, i.e. to all metal detectors:
- The larger the object, the deeper the metal detector can detect it.
- The longer the object has been underground, the better it can be detected. (Halo effect)
- The larger the coil of the metal detector, the deeper objects can be detected.
- Conductivity, shape and position of the object are decisive for the accuracy of detection.
- The soil composition and soil layers influence the measurement depth.
In comparison to the passively measuring OKM ground scanners, the Pulse Nova pulse induction metal detector has a further advantage: it achieves unambiguous measured values even in heavily mineralized soils and can thus directly detect natural gold and jewelry made of precious metals.
Coil tests under optimal conditions (test medium: air, sensitivity: maximum) achieved the following depth performances with the PI metal detector OKM Pulse Nova:

How the PI OKM Pulse Nova Metal Detector Works
Simply switch on the metal detector, start walking and swivel! But that’s just where the real work begins in the Pulse Induction Detector. After plugging in the desired coil, the Pulse Nova automatically identifies it and starts the appropriate processes for your successful treasure and gold search.
How the PI Detects Metal Objects
The Pulse Nova pulse induction detector follows the principle of a time-controlled oscillator that uses an alternating current to generate a magnetic field in a coil. This is sent into the ground and generates an eddy current and thus a reaction in the buried metal object. The resulting electrical conductivity in the metal object is detected by the Pulse Nova as a “disturbance” – i.e. an anomaly – and reported by acoustic signals.
In this way, jewelry made of precious metals such as gold and silver, but also ferromagnetic objects as well as natural gold minerals and gold nuggets can be detected directly.
Targeted Search with Pulse Nova
Thanks to the way it works and the different coils, treasure hunters can focus well on their target objects: With the large search coil as well as the frame coil, small objects such as bottle caps, pull tabs and small pieces of aluminum foil can be ignored. But beware: Even single coins cannot be displayed when using the large search coils! Depending on the application and target object, make sure to select the appropriate coil:
- Large search coil, large magnetic field: mainly larger metal objects can be found.
- Small search coil, small magnetic field: Smaller objects can also be detected.
Metal Detector with Intuitive Operation
Clearly Structured control panel
The Pulse Nova is able to locate buried metal objects in various soils without having to excavate the area first. Thanks to the ease of use of the PI metal detector and its interchangeable search coils, results can be obtained quickly and easily.
The control unit has two rotary knobs for adjusting sensitivity and volume. For a particularly intuitive and language-independent operation, a display was completely omitted. Acoustic feedback informs the user directly via loudspeaker or Bluetooth headphones about detected metal objects.
Telescopic Rod for Convenient Use
The Pulse Nova PI detector is supplied with a telescopic rod. This has an adjustable armrest so that the metal detector lies comfortably and balanced in your hand. The length of the linkage can be adjusted.
In just a few simple steps, a control unit and a flashlight can be attached to the telescopic rod at the top. At the lower end, the desired search coil is attached. Only the frame coil is not used with the rod.
Pinpointing with the PI OKM Pulse Nova Metal Detector
Once the metal detector has found an object, it is time for pinpointing: First, with slow sweeping movements above the object, the exact position is determined. Gradually narrow down the point of the anomaly by continuing to slowly swing the metal detector from different directions over the detected anomaly. An intense audio signal indicates the exact position and size of the object.
Metal Detector with Various Search Coils
The Pulse Nova PI metal detector is supplied as standard with a dual-wound mono coil. Due to its design, this coil enables particularly good depth performance in the detection of metal objects such as precious metals will gold and silver, but also ferrous metals in the underground. Depending on the area of application and personal preference, you can choose from two search coil designs for the OKM Pulse Nova:
Search Coil Omega: Experienced natural gold prospectors use solid plate coils with their previous gold detectors. The search coil Omega is especially suitable when used in stony areas, as it does not get stuck on stones or brushes.
Search Coil Delta: Militaria prospectors on the field and in shallow waters use mainly open search coils like the Delta. The open coil is a few grams lighter and easier to handle, especially underwater.
Choose the design that suits your area of use! In terms of functionality and range, there are no differences between the OKM Omega and OKM Delta search coils.
Additional Search Coils for Extended Application Possibilities
The Pulse Nova PI metal detector is equipped with a large search coil – Omega38 or Delta38 – as standard. This search coil is ideally suited for gold prospecting, treasure hunting, military search and explosive ordnance disposal. Since the search coil is waterproof, it can be used in shallow waters such as streams, rivers, lakes as well as in salt water.
The Plus variant of the OKM Pulse Nova additionally includes the small mono coil – Omega18 or Delta18 – as well as the Xi104 frame coil.
Advantage of the frame coil: Unlike the Delta and Omega search coils, the frame coil is used without the telescopic rod. With just over 1 m² of area coverage, a correspondingly large magnetic field can be achieved. In this way, only larger objects are detected and maximum search depths can be achieved.
Advantage of the small search coil: The small search coil can be attached to the telescopic rod in just a few steps, just like the large one. Due to its smaller circumference, it generates a smaller magnetic field and thus achieves less search depth. Its advantage: It can also detect smaller objects such as gold nuggets and ear studs that the large coil might have “missed”.
