Phoenix was designed to be a device with the function of a ground scanner and completely new scanning technologies were incorporated that were reached after many practical experiments and tests by the manufacturer.
The new ground scan technologies include two different probes that are used for different purposes and according to the search system to be used, namely:
Multi Ground Scanner (M.G.S)
The multi-sensor ground scanner probe is considered the most powerful technology that has been reached in order to conduct a three-dimensional scan of the ground in search of burials, treasures and voids, and it is considered a great development on the scanning technology in imaging devices.
One of the most important features of the ground scanner is the large and wide surface of the probe, which provides coverage of a larger area of the ground at a faster speed, as well as the multiplicity of scanning sensors, as there are four built-in sensors to receive signals more accurately.
The sensors in the scanner measure changes in the values of magnetic fields in the ground and the measurements are converted into digital signals that are transmitted through the probe cable to the main unit of the Phoenix device to be processed directly and convert the data into a two-dimensional visual representation on the device’s screen in the form of a color-changing grid that represents the different targets in the area, or wirelessly transmitting data directly via Wi-Fi technology to be represented in the form of a 3D graphics on any tablet computer that has a special application installed, as will be explained later.
Vertical High Signal Transceiver (V.S.T)
This probe was developed in order to conduct a real-time scanning of the ground that includes a high-signal transmission and reception technology for magnetic fields, so that it measures the changes in these fields and based on these changes, it is possible to determine the nature and type of the target that the probe is passing over at this moment, and different types of targets (minerals of both types can be detected magnetic ferrous metals such as iron and non-magnetic or precious such as gold or silver – or underground cavities such as tunnels and caves).
The signals received by the probe are transferred to the main unit of the Phoenix device to be processed and visually represented on the screen of the device as a variable color flow or color gradient curve according to the search system used, as this will be explained later in the section of the search systems.
One of the unique features of the V.S.T probe is the distinctive design, which includes at its end, which is designed in the form of a four-sided pyramid on two opposite sides, a group of variable length bars containing LEDs that emit light, and these LEDs change their lighting colors according to the target that the probe passes over (for example, the color of the LEDs is red In the case of passing over a valuable metallic target such as gold).

Phoenix metal detector is specially designed to be an integrated device for professional prospectors, with the inclusion of all imaging scanning technologies in one device, multiple search systems that provide different ways to search for all types of metals and targets visually.
1 – Ground Scan System
Ground scan system is the main system of the device that guarantees the best and accurate results and includes comprehensive coverage of the scan for a wide area with measuring changes in the ground magnetism to detect different types of targets such as metal objects, archaeological artifacts, precious and non-precious metals minerals, caves and tunnels.
The ground scan is performed via the multi-sensor M.G.S probe, which records the scanning measurements at each scanning point within a specified area.
Which is divided into a grid of rows and columns set so that the number of columns corresponds to the number of scan lines and the number of rows in this grid corresponds to the number of scan points in each scan line.
The scan data recorded by the probe is transferred directly in real time via the scanner cable to the main unit of the Phoenix device to visualize the results after the scan data and measurements are digitally processed.
The ground scan data can be represented in two ways according to the user’s choice, either through the screen of the Phoenix device directly via the device’s software or via any tablet computer equipped with an Android system on which the Multi Visual Analyzer app of Mega Detection devices is installed, which is used to control the scan settings and represent the results in an instant 3D graphics.
The display option is displayed at the beginning after selecting the ground scan system, and it displays the two previous options:
1 – Device:
The scanning and its various settings are performed directly via the device program on the screen through a set of tabs that include the following:
It expresses the scan mode, or in other words the method of conducting the scan process, i.e. the method of recording points. There are two options:
1 – Manual: each scan point is recorded by the user via a button on the main control unit, and the user must move from point to point and then press this button every time.
2 – Automatic: the device automatically records the measurements of each scan point according to a specified time interval, and the user only has to move from point to point.
The device in this case gives an audible alert when it reaches the end of the scan line, i.e. at the last point of the line, to alert the user to move to a next scan line.
This option sets the way the user moves during the scanning procedure, either manually or automatically, and here two options are available:
1 – One Direction: In this case the user moves from one scan point to another, and at the end of the scan line he returns to near the first scan point with leaving An offset distance and starts to scan another scan line and so on, in other words, all the starting points of the scan in each scan line are located on one side.
2 – Zigzag: in this case the user moves from one scan point to another and at the end of the scan line leaves a spacing and starts from here measuring the scan points in the next line in a direction opposite to the previous line, in other words all the starting points of the scan in every two successive lines lie in opposite directions.
Here, the dimensions of the virtual grid are set, which express how to divide the land to be scanned, as the virtual grid consists of a group of cells whose number is related according to the scan lines and the scanning points in each line. The following values can be set as follows:
1 – Width: It is the value of the width of the grid, or in other words the number of grid columns, and it is the same as the number of scan lines that the user must scan.
2 – Height: It is the value of the height of the virtual grid, meaning the number of grid lines, and it expresses the number of scan points in each line.
- Start Point
It represents the starting point of the scan process, and there are two options:
1 – Right: the scan will start from the right, i.e. from the lower right corner of the scan area
2 – Left: In this case, the scan will start from the left or the lower left corner of the scan area
After setting the previous settings, the “Scan” tab displays a summary of the selected values with a button to start scan. You can press the OK button on the keypad of the main unit to start the scanning process.
Scan Data Visualization:
During the scanning process, the screen of the device displays a grid consisting of cells with a number of lines and columns as previously specified, and each cell corresponds to a scan point and when the scan is conducted at this point it is filled with a specific color according to the location of the scan point on the ground or in other words, according to the nature of the target under the scanner.
There are several options for the colors of the grid cells. For example, if the cell is blue, this means a space or a cavity, and if the color is red, this corresponds to a metal such as a gold piece.
After completing the scanning process, the user can analyze the results through tools on the screen that include selecting cells, filtering results by color, and options for detailed display, where when selecting a specific cell, three indicators in three colors are presented on the screen that express a percentage of the probability of each type of target within the specified cell. The indicators are:
- The red indicator indicates the percentage of probability that the target will be magnetic metals, for example iron
- The yellow indicator indicates the percentage of probability that the target will be non-magnetic metal, for example gold
- The blue indicator indicates the percentage of probability that the target is a cavity, such as a tunnel or a cave.
When you select a specific cell, a numeric value corresponding to the target type is displayed
2 – Tablet
In this case, the scanning process is completed and the various settings that were previously explained (scan mode – scan path – number of scan lines – number of scan points per line) are completed through the Multi Visual Analyzer app that can be installed on any tablet with an Android operating system.
The application provides advanced options for the scanning process through a simplified multilingual graphical interface and easy-to-use tools to analyze the scan results visually and know the nature of the targets and their location within the scan area and their depths with great accuracy.
Where the ground scan data recorded by the probe and transmitted in real time to the tablet and the application via Wi-Fi technology is represented in the form of a three-dimensional graphics in different colors that express the nature and type of each target similar to the way on the screen but with richer data and accuracy.
2 – Live Stream System
The live stream system is an effective system with new technology to scan the ground in real time with a variable visual representation according to the target, either via the device screen or via the Multi Visual Analyzer app on the tablet.
Scanning is performed in this system by a V.S.T probe that measures changes in magnetism and converts these measurements into digital values that turn into a graphic visual representation on the device screen in the form of a variable color flow according to the type of target that the probe passes over, where the green color represents normal soil, and the red color is gold and blue a tunnel..
The user can also choose to represent the live stream process on the tablet attached to the device via the Multi Visual Analyzer app, where the application displays a live representation of the signals in the form of a variable color gamut similar to the scheme on the screen with indications corresponding to the colors.
3 – Pin Pointer System
The pin pointer system is a useful system for conducting a quick spot scan at the drilling site after detecting the targets by the ground scan system and confirming of the target through the live stream system, and here too the V.S.T probe is used, but here the signals are represented on the device’s screen only.
During the process of locating the target, the screen of the device displays a two-dimensional bar graph made of rectangles.
When capturing target signals, such as a precious metal, the rectangles and the curve towards the top are variable in length, and the colors are gradient from green to red in the middle at the higher values, and then they range towards green with lower values on both sides of the outline.
In the case of receiving signals of spaces – such as a tunnel – the curve is made of rectangles facing downward with gradual lengths and with a color gradient from green to dark blue in the middle, and then graduated towards green with lower values on both sides.
On the screen of the device, some values affecting the scanning process can be controlled, such as the value of the signal sensitivity, the calibration process, or the ground balance related to the nature of the ground and the terrain in the site, and there is an option to reset the calibration process.
Various Ways to Present Scan Results
Phoenix is a professional device that provides the professional prospector with various ways to display the scan results and model them visually or through other means, as will be explained in the following paragraphs:
The main control unit of the Phoenix device includes a large high-definition color LCD screen and this makes it easy for the user through the device’s program to set the scan settings and options and display the results visually in two-dimensional form.
Multi Visual Analyzer
Multi Visual Analyzer app provides a better use experience for the prospector as it provide controlling the scan process in the ground scan system and live stream and representing the results in the form of a three-dimensional graphics – in the case of the ground scan system – provides a clearer detailed view of the surveyed area and the ability to know the targets that contain it accurately through tools Powerful for analyzing the results to reach the discovery of treasures and burials easily
All search systems in the Phoenix device provide variable audio alerts according to the target type and the signals captured in the case of the V.S.T probe.
In the case of scanning with a M.G.S scanner, the device emits audio tones that indicate the user when recording measurements at the scan point or reaching the end of the scan line, and so on.
These light emitting diodes (LED) bars give the prospector during the scan process in Live Stream or Pinpointer by using V.S.T probe, a direct visual feedback that shows the nature of the target according to color, for example, lighting LEDs with a blue color corresponding to passing over a tunnel, for example.
Multilingual Powerful Software Program
Phoenix device software program provides a distinctive user experience for novice and professional prospectors by setting the various settings for the ground scanning process, as an example, through consecutive screens, clearly and understandably.
Through the device program, all scanning systems are represented visually, ensuring a distinctive interactive experience for the user when searching for treasures.

Long Lasting External Battery
The battery of the Phoenix device is designed in the form of an external box that is connected via a cable to supply the main unit of the device with energy, as well as providing power to the scanning probes when they are connected to conduct the scan.
The battery is a lithium-ion battery with a voltage of 12 volts and is rechargeable and there is a simple indicator indicating the status of the battery.
The device’s battery provides a relatively long operating time and depends on multiple factors, including the search system, the probe used, and the energy saving settings
